Summer Fellowships

Fellowships For College Students

About the Fellowships

Want to make a difference in the lives of students this summer?

MTR offers two paid month-long summer fellowships for college sophomores and juniors from across the country who want hands-on experience in education.

  • MTR Camp Literacy Fellowship

The MTR Camp Literacy Fellowship trains Literacy Fellows in literacy best-practices, while exposing them to education in Memphis and the residency program by providing academic enrichment within a summer camp experience for elementary students.

  • Marjorie Lee Browne STEM Education Fellowship

Fellows are undergraduate students of color who get to teach in our middle school STEM camp, observe best practices from mentor teachers, and attend seminars to learn more about the impact of education and faith on the historical and modern civil rights movement.

What Fellows Are Saying

“If you really want to really grow and you really want to connect with the community that will welcome you with open arms, this is definitely the place to be.”

Courtney reed,
2022 LITERACY fellow

“You should apply for this fellowship because not only are you making connections with people from all over the country, but you’re also indulging into a community that is so inviting. You’re really getting that first step into the education world.”

Christina robinson
2022 LITERACY fellow

“If math is just one of the ways that you can go beyond your circumstances and just see more of life, then I want to be a part of that. Your presence is important for kids, but also what you bring - they’re going to cherish that for a long time.”

DOUGZIANA THOMAS-CHAN
