What is The Teachers’ Lounge?
We are MTR Family members (grads, alums and staff) who have been taught and encouraged by MTR. The “MTR Family” is an important, albeit large, family — one that started in Memphis and has now grown to represent many time zones across the world.
MTR’s vision, Restored communities living with dignity and in peace, is not possible without your hard work of teaching and coaching in schools. Some of us are still teaching in Memphis, some have moved on to admin or other roles around Memphis, and some have spread their impact across the world.
To be in The Teachers’ Lounge, simply set up a recurring gift for $10/month (or more!) to MTR. In addition to helping fund the good work of MTR’s teachers and students, there are perks for you, too! See below.

Where did we get the name
“The Teachers’ Lounge”?
This monthly giving group is called The Teachers' Lounge because it symbolizes a space where teachers can come together to recharge, find encouragement, and support one another—similar to a traditional teachers' lounge in your schools.
Just as teachers gather in the lounge to share experiences, decompress, and connect with colleagues they may not see in the busy school day, this group offers a refreshing and supportive environment for community-building among MTR teachers and leaders.
how do i join?
Is there a goal?
All you need to do is commit to a $10 (or more!) recurring monthly gift.
We have a goal of 20 new members of The Teachers’ Lounge by the end of 2024. Just think…if 20 grads/alums sign up for just $10/month, that would be $2,400/year!
What does that cover?! Two months of running MTR teacher copiers, two residents’ monthly stipends, more than half a year of mentoring, food for B2SB, two summer Fellows’ pay…etc.
We are so thankful you’d consider joining this community to help continue to bring amazing teachers here to Memphis!
