be a resident teacher next year!
Lead, learn, inspire, empower, contribute, TEACH.
WE BELIEVE
Educational inequality is one of the greatest human and civil rights issues in America today.
That God — the creator of heaven and earth — cares deeply about the spiritual and physical needs of all people; therefore, he calls his people to go into all the world to offer love and seek justice for all.
That teaching children is among the most important jobs and most noble professions one can enter into for the good of others.
AND WE BELIEVE
-
Memphis Teacher Residency
MTR trains prospective teachers in a year-long residency model through graduate courses, classroom internship, and personalized coaching.
-
Summer Camps & Fellowships
We offer two fun-filled summer camps, at which college students can intern, to support elementary students in literacy and middle school students in STEM.
-
Memphis Literacy Institute
MLI partners to train teachers and leaders, and support schools toward literacy excellence, so that students taught by MLI-trained teachers are reading at grade level.
Vision
Restored communities living with dignity and in peace.
The vision of MTR is to use our specific work within education, in partnership with other holistic organizations, to help restore communities so that all individuals can become empowered contributors to our city and people of all races and classes can engage with one another in peace.
mission
Christian love expressed in equal education.
As a response to the gospel mandate to love our neighbors as ourselves, MTR will partner to provide students in Memphis neighborhoods with the same, or better, quality of education as is available to any student in Memphis by recruiting, training and supporting effective teachers within a Christian context.
Give today to see a better Memphis tomorrow.
We could not do this work without you!
Justin Siebert never imagined that one day he would be coaching teachers who were once his own students. But after 12 years in Memphis, Justin’s story is one of full-circle moments, professional growth, and a deep appreciation for the impact of Memphis Teacher Residency.
