MTR: High Expectations

Memphis Teacher Residency trains residents according to three maturity areas for effective urban teaching: Cultural, Instructional, and Character.            

Instructional Maturity 2.1 – High Expectations Definition: Setting feasible yet ambitious goals, both academically, behaviorally, and socially that will encourage students to outperform their presumed status quo.

View this short video of MTR graduate, Micah O’Hare, using data to create a strong culture of high expectations for learning. Notice the following instructional elements in the video: (1) Individual quiz questions are scripted to align with exact standards,  (2)Quiz data is tracked as a whole and as individual questions, allowing Mr. O’Hare to assess skill mastery, (3) Classroom culture values learning and achievement.
