How long have you been teaching?  3 years

Why did you initially want to be a teacher?  I felt that God was calling me to be in education.

Did you have a particular teacher in your life that inspired you? I had so many wonderful, inspiring teachers all who taught me to think, analyze, and learn well.  I was taught to read critically and write thoughtfully and it has benefitted me to this day.

What was your first day in front of a classroom like?  I wish I could remember.  It was a blur of being nervous, overwhelmed, and excited.  There are things I wish I could go back and change, but overall, I wouldn’t change it as it helped me become the teacher I am today.

How has your approach changed over time? I have matured as a teacher and now understand the importance of best practices.  I thought I understood that as I was heading into my first year of teaching, but I had no idea how important they are to establish from day 1.

What do you expect from your students?  I expect students to be engaged, to learn, and to grow.  I expect them to put in their best effort and choose to make good choices to the best of their ability.

What makes an effective teacher?  Patience & consistency.

What makes a great teacher?  Enjoyment of your job, happiness, love for the students, hard work.

What advice would you give to a brand-new teacher?  It only gets better and better.  Each year is new and you have a chance to completely start again.
