Educating Our City: Challenges & Opportunities

City Serve

When: Friday, September 27 @ 6:30 p.m.

Where: Second Presbyterian Church (Corner of Goodlett & Poplar)

This community issue forum will be discussing issues facing public education in our city and how the church can respond. David Montague will be the keynote speaker. Attendees will also get the opportunity to hear from Achievement School Districts’ Superintendent, Chris Barbic, and Shelby County Schools’ Superintendent, Dorsey Hopson. Sandy Wilson, Second Presbyterian pastor, will be the discussion moderator.
This event, free and open to the public, is part of Second Presbyterian’s CityServe 2013 weekend. CityServe is an annual event that seeks to promote service in Memphis and to support the work of local ministries. The theme for this year is “Our City, Our Children,” with a particular emphasis on education.
