Food for Kids Backpack Program
Nearly 122,000 Mid-South kids worry about where their next meal will come from.
This epidemic is called food insecurity, which often leads to hunger. These children receive free or reduced price school meals during the week, but at home, families struggle with food budgets that are stretched thin. And on the weekend, with no school meals, the burden is even greater.
Mid-South Food Bank’s Food for Kids BackPack Program provides nutritious food for the weekend – enough for six complete meals plus snacks. Currently serving 1,500 Mid-South children at 18 locations, the BackPack Program provides needed food for children and peace of mind for parents. BackPacks are distributed every Friday at area Boys & Girls Clubs, Girls Inc. locations, schools and other child-centered locations.
Your donation will fill a BackPack with wholesome food for a child, ensuring he or she will have nutritious meals for the entire weekend. The goal of this campaign is to grow the Food for Kids BackPack Program so many more Mid-South kids do not have to wait until the school week to have access to healthy food.
Let’s join together and #FeedMidSouthKids.
