Questions you may have…
What is the Praxis?
The Praxis does not assess understanding of pedagogical practices—it only assesses the content knowledge necessary to be ready to teach a grade level or subject. The Memphis Teacher Residency requires that all residents pass the appropriate test for their content area prior to beginning the residency. To begin as a resident, the Subject Assessment test for your grade/discipline needs to be passed.

How do I register?
Click here to sign up to take the Praxis Test. See below to find the Test Code that you’ll need to take.
Official Praxis Subject Assessment score reports must be sent to the following two institutions:
Christian Brothers University (Code 1121)
TN Department of Education (Code 8190)
Applicants who pass the Praxis will be required to forward a copy of the official student score report to MTR after receiving an invitation to join the program. Applicants should keep their original official score reports for future reference.
Based on your family’s size and income, you may be eligible for a fee waiver. It is up to you to determine if you qualify.
